VPS Updated 4 June 2025

VirtFusion is the control panel used to manage your TekLan VPS. You can access it at control.teklanhosting.co.uk. Log in with the credentials sent when your VPS was provisioned, or via the link in your TekLan client area.

The Dashboard

The main dashboard lists all VPS instances on your account. Each server shows its hostname, IP address, current status (running or stopped), and resource allocation.

Click any server to open its management page.

Server Management Page

The individual server page is where you carry out all day-to-day VPS management. The navigation tabs are:

  • Overview - server name, OS, location, resource usage (CPU, RAM, network), and power controls
  • Media - CD/DVD-ROM and boot order
  • Options - VNC console access, rescue mode, password reset, and settings
  • Network - IP addresses, reverse DNS, and DNS resolvers
  • Storage - drive information and task history
  • Backups - backup and restore management (if enabled on your plan)
  • Sharing - grant shared access to another user

Power Controls

The power buttons on the Overview page let you manage your server state:

  • Boot - start the server
  • Shutdown - graceful shutdown
  • Restart - graceful reboot
  • Power Off - force off (equivalent to pulling the power)
  • Rebuild - wipe the OS and install a fresh one

Finding Your IP Address

Your VPS IP address is shown on the server overview page in VirtFusion and in the TekLan client area under your VPS service. You use this IP to connect via SSH and to point DNS records at your server.

Getting Your Root Password

The initial root password is sent by email when the VPS is provisioned. You can also reset it from Options → Password in VirtFusion without needing SSH access.

Differences from Shared Hosting

Unlike shared hosting (managed through Enhance), a VPS gives you a full server with root access. There is no graphical panel for your websites by default - you manage the server via SSH and install whatever software you need. If you want a control panel on your VPS, you can install one yourself (such as cPanel, Plesk, or Enhance).
